“.”
In an era of perpetual coaching, consulting and success driven marketing, one of the most important discussions today continue to be wrapped around leadership, particularly as it relates to the importance of productivity and how we communicate and focus on the most desired behaviors. We offer four common sense approaches to think about.
1. To Do or Not To Do List –
We are strong advocates of having a TO DO List. The challenge rests within its design, or should we say their design ….
A good system includes a running list that is all encompassing; to make it productive, however, a system that breaks it down in to MUST and SHOULD do on a daily basis is essential for productivity and it must be driven by distinguishing the differences and importance between the Important and the Urgent.
IMPORTANT = Activities that Enhance Results and Goals
URGENT = Limited Time to Act
2. Goals or NOT –
Setting goals have become part of the majorities’ vernacular for quite some time now, and believed, if not understood to be beneficial. It is because of this that complacency has set it in the majority of the approach directed to goal accomplishment of leaders today; so then, in order to be successful with consistent results, Goals MUST BE:
Written, Harmonious and they must belong to You …..Only then can the SMART formula be effective …..Specificity, Measure-ability, Attainability, Relevancy, Timeliness
3. Do Things Well –
Multitasking is the enemy of Quality in desired Outcomes. Select the big tasks and see them through one step at a time, particularly those activities that are focused on profitability. The old adage of eating an elephant one bite at a time applies when customer loyalty and repeat business becomes part of your formula for success.
4. Attitude is Everything –
Lots to think about in the subject of Attitudes; the key element for success here is internalization and understanding that attitudes comes is different forms and are often influenced by our leaders and how they behave. The right attitude must be defined, nurtured and fueled by the compelling organizational strategies, then linked to people, systems, processes and clients. The predictive outcome materializes in positive organizational alignment. An impressive formula for success we continue to advocate with our clients is focused on Attitudes, both for the leader and for those being lead.
A (S + K) + Goals = PBC = IROP. Attitude – Skill – Knowledge – Goals – Positive Behavior Change – Improved Results – Organizational – Personal
